Research on Accessibility in Recruitment

The past couple of months, my work life has been dominated by our project to improve retention and promotion of people work disability.

We agreed to a compressed time frame, which has been challenging. I worked in partnership with a person who has a disability to carry out fieldwork. They are a quantitative expert with a degree in business.

We have been conducting back to back interviews and focus groups.

I taught my research partner how to do qualitative analysis and they coded our findings. They did such a great job! After each interview, we would discuss the findings from the positionality of our own scientific training. Their lived experience was critical to our success.

The work took shape rapidly. I’m looking forward to telling you more in the near future.

Below are some images of a recent focus group workshop for our project, a presentation on accessibility for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (where I also presented my findings for this project), and a guide to accessible design that one of our participants discussed with us.
