Kiama and Aboriginal Rights

I travelled with colleagues through Kiama, Dharawal land, along the South Coast of New South Wales, en route to Nowra, land of the Yuin and Dharawal people. Along with a group of policy analysts, we are travelling to meet with Aboriginal women’s groups to learn about community and health service delivery by Aboriginal community-controlled organisations.

We will also visit Bomaderry, in the City of Shoalhaven, to learn more about the living history of the Stolen Generation in the region. Over 100,000 children were removed from family and forced to assimilate to white culture and Christianity. We will then visit a school delivering education programs in partnership with Aboriginal-community controlled organisations, and their vision for the future of education.
