Engaging Hard-To-Reach Communities

I attended excellent presentations from justice practitioners in Sydney.

One session focused on how to engage hard-to-reach communities in service delivery and decision-making. Another was on evidence-based policy implementation. For example, how to use better data collection methods to evaluate and redesign policies and programs, encouraging compliance with laws, helping at-risk children, and increasing community investments.

I then attended meetings with senior executives and stakeholders. My favourite meeting was preceeded a walk with a colleague, to discuss the logistics of the next phase of fieldwork (photos 1 and 2 below).

I love being in the field, talking to people about how we can work together to make lives better, especially for vulnerable communities. It is a true joy to be able to soak up a little sun in the process.
