There was a lot of talk about the impact of the Sony Hacks on the company and its affiliated celebrities. The media attention was overwhelmingly focused on the release of a silly, racist movie, yet not enough of the public heard about the racist and sexist communications between Sony’s corporate heads. Even so, there was even less attention paid to the greatest casualties: the lower-level employees, whose personal information was released alongside other mundane and salacious details of the corporation. It wasn’t just emails; it was their Social Security numbers, their credit card numbers, and other personal details. Sony proved itself to be poorly positioned to manage a cyber attack, but moreover, its poor cyber security left their employees vulnerable.
