Phase One of Fieldwork Ends

Today was an incredibly hectic day. I attended various back to back meetings to receive feedback on a case study I’m working on, before moving on to discuss drafting a template for research agreements.

Then I hurried across town to carry out fieldwork on a justice advocacy program.

The day ended with another meeting to incorporate feedback for a forthcoming presentation and I had to work on the commute home and the rest of the evening to make final revisions (as did our teammates).

Things will settle as the last of this phase of fieldwork begins to wind down. This set of fieldwork was focused on speaking with experts and stakeholders on what makes voluntary programs successful, and what hinders people signing up.

The next phase is a couple of months away, where I will travel to visit community services around metro and regional New South Wales, and speak with providers and clients about their needs.

Fieldwork is definitely the best part of my day, despite the logistics of fitting in research around other work.
