How social work students can use social media

Here’s an excellent study by Tarsem Singh Cooner and colleagues, on how social work students might use social media to establish a “community of practice.” Having an international focus on collaboration has many benefits – it exposes social workers to different working systems, and provides a broader support system to solve problems. Social work can sometimes be alienating; social media training would be useful and help community workers feel better informed and connected

The presentation illustrates how we used Facebook to link UK, Canadian and Australian students to help them collaboratively explore  the ethical uses of social media in social work.
