Twitter Tips for Social Workers

Social work organisations are rare on social media. Partly this is because of confidentiality and partly because this community sector is reticent to jump into social media. Here’s some great advice from social workers using Twitter:

“Be human and authentic and share the good work of others, think before you publish, respect professional relationships. It is a social network after all.”

Sandie Keene,

“You need to be interesting and authentic – this is not a task to delegate, so do it yourself. Don’t worry that you have to read everything on twitter – it’s just not possible. And enjoy – you can learn so much, make new friends and be entertained. You can have a lot of fun so don’t be afraid to start.”

Andrea Sutcliffe

“My main tip would be to try and build a small community of people around you who are interested in what you’re saying. Try and fit it in around your life. Don’t dread it, think of a purpose for why you want to use it.”
