I’ve been facilitating meetings, workshops, training and other activities for over a decade professionally but there is always new techniques and theories to learn. I attended a facilitation course where the material was interesting and useful. For example, we covered ideas for activities to get ownership of the purpose for a meeting and how to encourage experts to think about problems and solutions from a perspective that is unfamiliar. Specifically, to facilitate a group that thinks about the world through numbers and “concrete” examples to consider their biases and complex social dynamics.
I had a lot of fun and I left with much to consider.
